I am working on a project dealing with common sense and micro-behavioral analysis. This will turn into a book within a couple of years.
Works Under Submission
A number of encyclopedia articles (on Thorstein Veblen, George Homans, Karen Cook and Carol Gilligan) for Moscow, Russia’s Encyclopedia of 20th Century Thinkers.

Committee Member for the Committee on the Freedom of Research and Teaching (COFRAT), Pacific Sociological Association, 2002-05. Serve as a member of COFRAT, a committee that is concerned with the maintenance of academic freedom among sociologists and with the development and maintenance of fair and equitable procedures and practices for employing, promoting, and terminating the employment of sociologists. The committee investigates complaints referred to it by members, develops appropriate procedures for conducting such investigations, and reports to the PSA Council.

This involvement includes being interviewed by newspaper, radio and television reporters on a variety of subjects that the Public Relations Department has me listed as an expert in specific areas of study (e.g., issues related to crime, sports and leisure, the human psyche, etc.) Serving as a media expert enhances the reputation of the department and Canisius College. Specific examples include being interviewed by NBC television in regard to the September 11 attacks on our nation. I was asked to comment on how these events affected the human psyche. Other interviews include discussing the Junta-Costin hockey manslaughter case on WBEN radio; the role of football on Thanksgiving by the Idaho Statesman; fan loyalty by Oakland Tribune; and numerous other examples.

Charter Member of the Wall of Tolerance, 2002. In recognition of my community activism and scholarly contributions in the fight against social injustice, I was selected as a charter member of the Wall of Tolerance sponsored by the National Campaign for Tolerance and co-chaired by Rosa Parks and Morris Dees. The Wall of Tolerance is located in the heart of Montgomery, Alabama, a city famous in the struggle for human rights. It is blocks from where Rosa Parks helped launch the Civil Rights Movement. The Wall will be in the same complex as the Civil Rights Memorial.
